Dear Family and Friends:
As we all try to navigate the shoals of polarization, intolerance, climate change and political dysfunction, sometimes it’s helpful to be reminded of smaller joys and wonders. So here are a few highlights from our lives over the past year:
Mica and Ani are engaged!!! Mica proposed on Thanksgiving-eve on a romantic beach in Eastport, Maine, and the rest is history! The wedding will likely be very small; date TBD. Here they are during a summertime visit to Seattle.
After finishing her PhD in Material Sciences, Becca moved to Seattle to start a post-doc at the UW Clean Energy Institute. Becca and Galen are finally living together after 5 long years! Picture here is from Pakistan.
Adam and Jaclyn, Galen and Becca are always up to mischief together – climbing, backcountry skiing, mountain biking and paragliding, with the occasional ultimate frisbee game thrown in. They know how to get the most out of each day! Below, see Adam and Jac with 28251’ K2 looming behind.
What else? We have a new Samoyed puppy, Kivalina! Ellie, now 12, has grudgingly accepted her and the two of them can play for hours. Dan now has another full-time job in addition to “work!” Here is tiny 8 week old Kiva, nervous on the flight home from SLC; below, she’s gotten bigger and is giving 12 year old Ellie a run for the money.
We’ve had amazing adventures with family and friends… in the Methow, southern Utah (twice!) , Austrian Alps, Pakistan, the Adirondacks, Red Rocks (Nevada), and the Cascades (e.g., Knapsack Pass, Chain Lakes, and Tomahoi).
